Water Police Station,
Kowloon, 20th October, 1939.
Police Sergeant A.38 Hudson, Officer in Charge, No.4 Police
Launch, states:-
At about 14.50 hours on 18th September, 1939, I picked up a party of two Chinese detectives and the master of a fishing I steamed to a point junk, Chau Hang Tean, at Castle Peak Pier. in Deep Bay north of Nim Wan, where Chau Hang Tsan pointed out the wreck of a submerged junk as his own fishing Junk No.H.C.884, which he claimed to have been attacked by Japanese on the previous night. The junk was submerged except for the upper structure aft, and was aground. The position of the junk was fixed by me from bearings baken from the launch at 16.00 hours. Bearings from
launch read as follows:-
Summit or 204 Hill Mong Tseng Point
N 60° E.
Van Ha Point
N 13o E.
Position Lat. 229 26' 50"
Long. 113° 55′ 32".
The position of the submerged junk was approximately
400 yards away in a direction S 72° E.
The weather was dead calm with no wind. There was a
strong ebb tide flowing but as far as I could estimate it was
having no effect on the junk, which was aground.
Times of tides from 17th to 20th September from Tide
